⛉ Two Days Leadership Training Camp

The Department organizes and conducts ‘Two Days Leadership Training Camp’ for the students from various Colleges and Departments every year. The camp is organised with an intention of inculcating leadership qualities among the students. This camp is a grand success in attaining its goal of stimulating students to enrich their personality equipped with the better qualities befitting to a good leader. The camp is attractive, effective, and a comprehensive venture for the diversity in the structure of the classes handled by eminent persons. The camp is also notable and outstanding with its priority to mould the mindset of student community fit to face and tackle the problems and issues they may encounter in the present and future.

⛉ “Yukthibhadramaya Campus : Susthira Keralam” Programme

The Department at present organises an outstanding programme with the title “Yukthibhadramaya Campus : Susthira Keralam” Programme in more than 50 College campuses envisaging to make the campuses as the centres of free thoughts, scientific and rational out look with an intention to make education in its comprehensive and meaningful dimension. The programme intends for creative interactions with the students to root out dead and unscientific influences from our campuses. The programme encourages the students to approach happenings and issues not only on the basis of mere facts but also on rational outlook and approach. The programme is also with an optimistic view that such an educational system can have the treasure house of perfect students of a promising generation for the ultimate goal of a creative nation in future.

The inauguration of the programme was held on 16th October 2018 at Government College for Teacher Education, Thycaud. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. K.T, Jaleel, the Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education and Welfare of Minorities Minister. Prof. Dr. C. Ganesh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor chaired the inaugural function in the presence of members of syndicate and other dignitaries.

With immense pleasure and proud it is noted that, with in this time, the Department could take the initiative key role in this regard for the successful implementation of the above said programme in the following 25 college campuses with the help of outstanding Resource Persons.

The programme left the results of great feedback from the students and teachers. The Department will complete its target within a short while in the rest of the campuses.

⛉ Anti-Drug Campaign

The Department took initiative to organise and conduct an another important programme with title ‘Anti- Drug Campaign’ in College Campuses. It is regretting to denote that at present some of our campuses are dangerously grabbed by Drug Mafia. The creativity of our students and their future are adversely affected by the above said negative influence of drug addiction. The Anti-Drug programme underlines the urgency of launching such a campaign to make our students free from the bad affects of the calamity. The primary solution as per the programme is making proper awareness among the students in campuses against Drugs consumption. In addition to it the programme envisaging to checkmate even the least chance of the availability of Drugs and its influences in College Campuses with the help of Legal and Police Authorities. The Department intends to organise and conduct its programme in 15 selected college campuses in our University.

The inauguration of the Anti- Drug Campaign was taken place on 22nd May 2019 at the Government College, Kariavattom. The Inauguration of the programme was done by Sri. T.P. Ramakrishnan, Hon’ble Minister for Excise and Labour in the presence of the members of syndicate, Director of Student Services and other dignitaries.

⛉ Student Palliative Clubs

With Immense Proud and Pleasure it is marked that the Department has already taken initial steps to start the proposed prestigious mission of the Student Palliative Clubs. The main intention of the programme is to encourage the students for having practical experiences with the Palliative services to make them fit to Contribute their maximum for the society. The Department aims to give proper training to the students of various college campuses for the successful accomplishment of the mission. The inauguration of this programme was held at VJT hall Thiruvananthapuram on 21st June 2019 Sri. E. P. Jayarajan, Hon’ble Minister for Industry, Sports and Youth Affairs in the presence of Dr. V. P. Mahadevan Pillai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. P. P. Ajayakumar, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor, Members of syndicate, Dr. C. R. Prasad, Registrar in charge, Sri. Siddhik R., Director of Student Services aand other dignitaries.

⛉ Constitutional Literacy in All Campuses

The Department also constitutes and another major programme with the title “Constitutional Literacy in All Campuses” . As being one of the largest democratic nations in the world, our country gives predominant consideration and status for constitution. As far as this matter is concerned it is an urgency to provide constitutional literacy among the student community in our college campuses. Making such awareness is essential for the empowerment of our constitutional and administrative Institutions for a better country and social system based on justice and democratic values. It is envisaged to be conducted this programme in 30 selected college campuses in our university. The Department has already moved a lot with the initial work of the launching of this programme.

Other Activities of the Department

⛉ Financial Assistance to Poor Students from SAF

The Department of Student Services has already distributed Poor Students Scholarship from SAF to eligible students up to the year of 2015-16. An amount of Rs. 10,44,000/- was also distributed for eligible students as pending SAF Scholarships for the period of 2010-11 to 2015-16. The scholarship for the years 2016-17, 2017-18 AND 2019-19 will be distributed at the earliest as the same is being under urgent final processing.

⛉ Awarding Grace Mark to Students

The Department is entrusted with the task of awarding grace marks to the students who are the winners in the Kerala University Youth Festival, Drama Festival, South Zone Inter- University Youth Festival, Nation Inter-University Youth Festival, Keralosavam, Desiyolsavam etc...

⛉ Dr. K N Pai Memorial Quiz Competition

The Department conducted Dr. K. N. Pai Memorial Quiz Competition on 20th March, 2018 at the Department of Student Services, PMG, Trivandrum. 12 colleges participated in it. Cash awards were given to the winners. 1. University College, Trivandrum (First) 2. Mar Ivanios College, Trivandrum (Second) 3. Department of Economics, Kariavattom (Third)

⛉ Gender Champion Programme 2018-‘19 and 2019-‘20

In compliance with the instructions and guidelines of the University Grants Commission, as per the part of the vision and programme of Central Ministry of Human Development, Government of India, with the intention of promoting ‘Gender Equality’ guaranteed by Article 15 of the Indian Constitution, the Department of Student Services is now taking all the necessary steps of the selection process for the Gender Champion Programme to be started at the earliest for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20.

⛉ G. Karthikeyan Memorial Award 2015-‘16, 2016-‘17, 2017-‘18

The ‘G. Karthikeyan Memorial Award – 2016 (2015-16), 2017 (2016-17) and 2018 (2017-18) for the Best College Union were awarded to Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Sree Narayana College, Chathannoor, and Kerala University Research Students Union respectively. The Department of Student Services played the key role in the processing of the selection and in organising the Award function.

⛉ KAVALAM NARAYANA PANICKER MEMORIAL AWARD FOR BEST DRAMA

A prestigious award of “KAVALAM NARAYANA PANICKER MEMORIAL AWARD for the college drama team winning first prize in the Kerala University Drama Festival is distributed every year by this Department. The first award was given to Bishopmoor College, Mavelikkara for the year 2016-17. NSS College Cherthala was distributed the award for the year 2017-18 and Sree Narayana College, Cherthala was awarded for the same year 2018-19. The Award distributing function was held on 15th July 2019 at University Senate Hall Thiruvananthapuram. The awards were distributed by Dr. V.P. Mahadevan Pillai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor in the presence of Dr. P.P. Ajayakumar, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor, Members of the Syndicate, Registrar and Sri. Siddik. R, Director of Student Services.

⛉ South Zone Inter-University Youth Festival - 2018

The selected team of the students who were the winners in the Kerala University Youth Festival 2017-18 had participated in the 34th South Zone Inter-University Youth Festival held at Sree Padmavathi Viswavidhyalayam, Andrapradesh from 7th to 11th October 2018. With immense proud and pleasure it is marked that our team won the over all champion ship in the year which is the fourth consecutive year and 9th championship out of 33 events. The major events we bagged prize are listed below.

⛉ National Inter University Youth Festival

Our University team comprising of the students who qualified for the 34th National Inter-University Youth Festival had participated in the same which was held at Chandigarh University, Chandigarh, Punjab from 1st to 5th February 2019. Our team also bagged several prizes.
