The International Centre for Kerala Studies (ICKS) was formally launched on 9th June 1988 and was conceptualized as a premier institution for the generation of knowledge on Kerala and for the promotion of better understanding of her multi-faceted tradition world-wide. For over a decade, the Centre has been making explorations mainly on Kerala Culture, History, Language and Literature.  The task has been addressed in a five-fold manner: Undertaking Research Programmes on specific themes, Documenting classical and Folk Art Forms and facilitating their stage performances, Documenting our Cultural Heritage and conducting short-term courses, Discussions and seminars, Publication of monographs and scholarly works.  Twenty books and forty monographs were brought out so far.
