Special Assistance Programme

 The Department was selected for UGC Special Assistance Programme for five years from 01-04-2007 to 31-03-2012.  Total grant approved was 20 lakhs plus a project fellow.  The programme provides financial assistance for conducting seminars, undertaking research projects and publication of research reports etc.

Cost of Cultivation

   The scheme study on cost of cultivation of principal crops in Kerala is successfully functioning in the department since 1970 under the ministry of agriculture, government of India.  The Hon. Director of this scheme is the Head of the Department.  This is apermanent project with an annual allotment of Rs.1.25 crores.  Under the comprehensive scheme vital data of cost of cultivation of three major crops grown in Kerala state viz. paddy, coconut and pepper are collected from 30 villages.  The data collected by economic investigators is processed and transmitted to the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India for framing the agricultural price policy of the Government.
