The Department has a separate library of its own with a fairly strong collection of books and periodicals on traditional librarianship, information science and information technology. At present the library has 3400 volumes  and the annual addition is in the range of 100 to 150. The library currently subscribes to 15 leading periodicals, both Indian and foreign, in the field of LIS. The holdings include J. Doc., Program, Knowledge Organization, LRTS, Lib. Trends, Spl. Libraries, and ARIST. The CD and online versions of LISA PLUS is also subscribed to by the Department.
 Steps to fully automate the library are being carried out now. A bibliographical database of the holdings has almost been completed.  Though the library is primarily meant for the students and faculty of the department, others also can use it with the prior permission of the Head of the Department.
The students of the department also have access to the collection and services of the Kerala University Library, for which they have to register paying a deposit of Rs 50.
