Year of Establishment : January 2005

LIBRARY The Centre for Bioinformatics has a modest library with a stock of 1500+ books (Sept 2009) and continues to grow. The centre has funds to acquire books worth a few lakhs every year and students and researchers are encouraged to select and suggest books to enrich the library collection. The library has introduced a novel  public tagging, as modern  information scientists recognise this as a very valuable meta knowledge associated with knowledge resources. Recall scribblings and making margin remarks you made in the Library Books? Well, CBi library users are now invited to do it, not on  the body of the books, but on a Public Tagging sheet that is affixed to every book. Upgradation to a fully automated and digitally secured library is expected to complete in 2010. A spread sheet with the list of books available in the library is available on the CBI site. The following is the coarse physical classification under which books are kept.Bio Physics, Bio Chemistry, Bio InstrumentationBasic Biology, Biotechnology Maths / Statistics Computers, IT, Programming Bioinformatics, Comp Biology, Genomics, Proteomics,  Phylogenetics Soft Computing, Systems Biology Image Processing, Micro array, DSPNew Technologies, Engineering Drug Design Professional Studies (IPR, Ethics, Research, Tech Writing, Environment, Management) Motivational  Reading Education, Pedagogy, Teaching Popular Science Test Material Reference Volumes Miscellaneous.
