UNIVERSITY OF KERALA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION Bye-laws of the University of Kerala Alumni Association (Modified as per the decision of the Organising Committee) 1. Name
2. Office The Office of the Association shall be at the Senate House Campus of the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram.
3. Aims and Objectives The aims and objectives of the Association shall be: a) to foster and promote good relationship among the members of the Association.
4. Membership a) All former Graduate and Post Graduate students of the University and affiliated Colleges/ Institutions are eligible to become Life Members of the Association on payment of Rs.500/-. A member of the Association when joins in any of the ongoing courses of the University ceases to be a member of the Alumni Association during the period of the course.
b) All regular teachers of the Departments / Institutions / Centres of the University and the regular staff of the University are eligible to become life members of the Association on payment of Rs.500/-. Their Membership will be terminated on their retirement / resignation / dismissal / removal from service.
5. Administration a) The administration of the Association shall rest in an executive committee,consisting of (1) an ex-officio President (2) a Vice-President (3) a General Secretary (4) two Secretaries (one of whom shall be a lady) (5) a Treasurer and (6) other members (nine members) elected by the General body. (7) The Public Relations Officer shall be an ex-officio member of the Executive Committee.
6. Meetings a) General Body Meetings (i) The annual General Body meeting shall be held every year in the month of January. (ii) The Executive Committee may convene General Body meetings as and when necessary.
b. Executive Committee Meetings (i) Meetings of the Executive Committee shall ordinarily be convened at least once in 3 months. (iii) Quorum for a Meeting of the Executive Committee shall be 7 members.
c. General provisions regarding meetings. (i) Seven days notice shall ordinarily be given for all meetings of the General Body / Executive Committee. The notice of the General Body meeting shall be published in two newspapers approved by the University.
7. Duties of the Office Bearers a) President
b) Vice-President The Vice-President shall exercise the powers and perform the duties of President, in the absence of the President.
c) General Secretary (i) The General Secretary shall receive all applications for membership and place them before the Executive Committee for enrolling members.
d. Secretaries (i) The Secretaries shall assist the General Secretary in the performance of his/her duties.
(e) Treasurer (i) The Treasurer shall be incharge of all the funds of the Association and, all the connected accounts, books, receipt books, vouchers, passbooks etc.
8. Amendments Any of the provisions of this Bye-laws may be amended by a two-third majority of the members present and voting at the General Body Meeting of the Association.
